The Weekender: Duvall + Fitz in Singapore

Wow! What a weekend. I write this post with a full heart and heavy eyelids. The past 4.5 days we hosted Michael's parents and his parents great friends, the Fitzpatricks, here in Singapore. We are grateful beyond words that everyone made such a huge effort to come all the way out here to see little 'ol us. To say much fun was had, would be a massive understatement.

We were all together through the weekend. Our four visitors left us back in Singapore for a few days while they toured Siem Reap, Cambodia. Michael and I will travel Wednesday afternoon and we will all reunite in northern Vietnam where we plan to spend a couple days in Hanoi and finish the weekend in Danang/Hoi An. We all feel so fortunate to embark on this adventure together. So much love.
So, what did the crew do all weekend in Singapore? A recap below:

The Duvalls arrived a day earlier, so on their first night we enjoyed a wonderful, leisurely dinner at the Tiong Bahru Club - great food. (The menu was more Indian than I expected, but highly recommend). Cheese!

Once Team Fitz arrived, it was full steam ahead (pun intended). Although it has been 'nice' for Singapore standards, it is still hot out there. We started out the day with a classic Singapore power lunch at Din Tai Fung and moved on to the top of the Sands hotel to take in the view.

This is the view from the back of the hotel looking Southeast.

The famous infinity pool back there.

Major props to everyone's ability to power through the jet lag! Very impressive. Next stop - I forced had suggested we check out the Tiger Brewery tour. Besides the fact that you could not understand a single word from the tour guide (horrible quality mic + thick accent) it was a cool facility. It was neat to check it out and the 'beer appreciation' to follow made the outing a win. (Note: Tiger beer is the local beer here, similar to a bud light or miller light).

After the tour we had a fun dinner on Club Street and walked home through China Town (more on that the below - I just like this pic ;)
How cute are they? Singapore boat cruise.
Saturday afternoon we made plans to check out China Town. The area is close to where we live and is currently buzzing with Chinese New Year holiday sprint. Check out this hilarious BuzzFeed article on CNY for a glimpse into our life (#8 - LOL).

Shameless new photography skills, as shown below.

Me : Gah, look how cute this picture is of your parents!
Michael : Wow, it really is, considering how grumpy we all were.

Me : You mean like this?
(Michaels, I need to go down for a nap, face)

Compulsory hawker center stop. Singapore's famous chicken rice.

Not pictured: me almost getting expelled from the heard for bringing to the table a dessert of shaved ice, flavored syrups and red beans and corn. What? No one wants a little try??

Sunday morning the gals shopped for dinner at the wet market and the guys did their own thing.

By the afternoon is was time for one more thing....drumroll please.... the Singapore Sling! Or more commonly known as, the $ingpoare $ling.

Selfie stick makes it's debut! We were laughing too hard during this shoot. Let's just say, we still have some practice to go before we get it down ;)

Last stop before we headed home for a wonderful home cooked meal on the grill at our place.

I love the pic of a pic here.

We are so very lucky to have such amazing people in our lives - to make us laugh, feel loved and feel not so far away. #Blessed. Can't wait for the Duvall + Fitz invasion Part II.

XO,
CD
